If that really happen i think there will be no peace at all on earth. All will get panicked and many accidents, fights, conflicts, battle will start. But on the other hand all the countries will became one and they will be planning to stop our world from collapsing.so enjoy your life till you die because we get life for only for once. I pray that should never happen. Peace.

Well you should consider yourself very lucky to be living on earth casue our whole solar system is protecting us from asteriods. First off the odds of seomthing hitting us very low. In theoretical terms it would be like trying to hit a moving mass with a smiliar mass moving above the speed ofthe first from an inifinte disntance away. In practical terms trying hitting a baseball with another baseball(both moving one moving faster than the other) one guy on the west coast the other guy on the east coast. Assuming your baseballs arent subject to gravity the chances of them hitting are extremly low. Now im not saying there is a zero percent chance for us to be hit by an asteriod but think about what is just past eath in terms of space. When we look at the moon we see many craters casued by asteriod so the moon could also be thought of as a sort of shield. But the biggest thing helping earth is Jupiter. The size of that planet makes the gravitational feild of that planet catch asteriods as they pass if not throws the far off course.

in response to your viewpoint, there will surely be panic... i doubt that battles/wars will start since all of mankind will prolly be more concern with how to survive if the asteroid will indeed hit the earth... accidents will always happen whether there will be an asteroid hitting the earth or not... on to a deeper analysis of your question, there are many factors as to what will happen to earth if it is going to be hit by an asteroid... if the asteroid is big enough, it might wipe out living things in the place of impact... if it will hit a body of water, it might start a tsunami... it will also depend on what the asteroid carries with it... does it carry some poisonous elements or something that could trigger climate change or maybe even a kind of bacteria that can spread communicable diseases in a matter of seconds... if that is the case, then it might be the end of mankind... it could also affect our physiology, maybe allow us to evolve in a more advance pace just so we can cope up with the changes in our environment (think of X-Men... if the environment suddenly becomes freezing cold, then we might develop furs as to allow us to survive the chilling environment). if the asteroid is bigger than our planet, it could destroy our planet upon impact...
