Are you planning on cutting back this Christmas or is it full steam ahead?

With a worldwide recession here, maybe you won't be getting a bonus this year or you have unfortunately lost your job? Perhaps you were lucky and did well in the stock market and it will be business as usual come Christmas time. Will Christmas time be different for you this year? Are you planning to spend as much as you did last year? What changes, if any, will you make? I have noticed that the parking lots in malls aren't very full and many stores are practically empty. What are you seeing in your area?

Yea, unfortunately, we'll be cutting back this Christmas. We usually try to make the holidays all about giving back to others and the true meaning - but we love to shower our family and friends with our love in gifts. Won't be happening so much this year. But we are hopeful of a better year.

Yeah, most people I talk to say that they are cutting back too. Some are foregoing gift giving altogether this year. Last year wasn't a great year for some stores in my area and they went out of business right after Christmas. Several spots in the mall stayed empty all year long from last Christmas' vacancies. I hear that some stores are likely to go bust before this Christmas season is finished because of such a poor back-to-school season. Many places decided not to hire more staff for the Holiday season.

We never have much money around Christmastime but God always pulls through for us and it's a wonderful holiday. Some years are more extravagant than others but we always keep perspective and remember what's important. This year we're expecting to not have as "big" of a Christmas as last year, but that's okay. It's been a good year despite our challenges and next year we will be blessed even more.

It's good to hear that your year has gone well. I wonder how those who will lose their jobs are become evicted at Christmas time this year will cope?
