In my opinion, it all boils down to LIFESTYLE. My family has made a lot of changes in this area. 1) We don't eat out as much. When we do, we try to order dishes that we don't normally make at home. 2) We entertain at home instead of meeting friends out for dinner and drinks. 3) We plan our schedule for the day so that we don't spend too much on gas driving back and forth. 4) Instead of going to the movie theater, we wait for the dvd to come out and watch it at home. We even microwave popcorn. :) 5) We usually buy the basics from the grocery store before we buy the "wants". 6) We turn off all the lights, appliances, etc., when not in use. 7) We rarely use the airconditioner (this adds a lot to the electricity bill). 8) We got rid of our credit cards. If we don't have the cash to pay for something, we don't buy it. I'm sure I can think of some more, but the bottom line is, we've had to tighten our belts to manage our budget. Even our kids aren't spoiled and don't ask for much, and my husband and I are proud of the fact that they do understand the value of money at such a young age.

Hi there! Well I have been trying to make ends meet. Living a frugal life and saving money. Economic crisis has affected everyone and its sad cause Christmas is coming soon. Maybe I'll just buy gifts for my family only. Your tips are good ideas to save money. I also do what you've written. Especially pulling all the plugs to cut off the use of electricity. I also don't have a TV cable. I opted to subscribe for an internet connection cause I believe I can use the internet more than watching TV. I have also stopped buying clothes and shoes. Before I used to shop always but now, in this time of crisis we have to learn how to be frugal. I live alone so I don't buy a lot things at the grocery store. Only the right amount of foods for me and my pets. Ciao!

I made a monthly plan budget. After I move out from our home to live alone away from my parents, I've learn that I need to make a budget plan. Living alone is fun and exciting but when I run out of money, it makes me crazy sometimes. So I see to it that I will budget my money efficiently. I give priorities to what is important like paying the rent, electricity and water bills, daily allowance and food. Then next, to things that I need, like clothes, groceries, books, etc. I also see to it that I keep some money(for the rainy days of course). Then some savings for future plans like, vacations on holidays or stuff that I want to buy.(Money I allocate for this is not big, but eventually it grows until its enough to cover for my much awaited holiday vacation trip or expensive book or shoes.) I try also not to be impulsive when shopping. I try to check every boutique or store for great buys(meaning good qiality, great style, in low cost - I found these stuff during sale) Having a budget plan comes along with disipline and positive mind set. If you need to make your budget plan into a reality, you have to stick with it. And olla, kiss your financial problem goodbye. =)
