Secret Santa for the Lonely

When our kids were little, we wanted to teach them that Christmas should have more meaning than just what they would get out of it. We started our own secret Santa plan for the kids. They picked out a person in our town who had no family to share the holidays with, helped pick out a few small gifts, and helped deliver them when the person was out Christmas eve or eve day. This was our non religious way of showing them that thinking of others and making someone else happy was as important as what they had under the tree. Do you Secret Santa someone? Or invite them to join you for the holiday meal? That's what my parents did when I was a child, we had an open house Christmas dinner, and we always loved hearing the stories the older generations had to tell. How do you teach your kids that it's not all about what they get out of it?
