Does anyone think Betty is kinda overdue for a makeover?

So...I'm a huge fan of Ugly Betty, but I do have a qualm with it: Betty's been working with Mode for over 2 years now, and hasn't improved appearance-wise at all. Considering she's supposed to be fairly intelligent, does anyone else find her lack of fashion sense a little tiresome? I mean..how long does it take to get your braces taken off? She's even biffles (best friends for life) with a clothing designer, for goodness sake! Just small improvements would make me less bored with her continuous fashion faux pas.

Betty's appearance indeed need some improvements. She's an ugly girl at first, and she made some achievements by hard work.At the beginning,I guess her achievements are not only on position, also on her tastes.Anyway, she works in a fashion company, how come 2 years later, her tastes haven't got any improve and she still out of date.I'm afraid ppl will think she's lack of fashion cells or she's a both ugly and unwise girl.

I definitely hear ya on this! I think they already are perceiving her to be "unwise" as you've put it, based on her appearance alone...and honestly believe that if it's keeping her from moving up in the company, she is very unwise to let her looks stand in her way...

But I also think if Betty get changed to be a wise and fashion person, that's not a good thing either.Cause' that's not Betty anymore. And I guess that maybe the end of Ugly Betty.Maybe we can find a better way to improve it.

Yeah I think they owe her a little bit of improvement! She's a beautiful girl I wish they'd give her character a little inch, at least her hair or something.

I agree with you on that and also remove the braces.

I kind of agree. But i think that if they change her too much then you lose the appreciation of her doing things her own way. If she changes to become more like the people of mode then she loses who she is. But a few slight changes wouldn't hurt her.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting....a few minor changes to make it a little more interesting....the clothing doesn't bother me as much as the hair/braces..just getting the braces taken off, to me, seems as though it wouldn't hurt the show's premise...and, in fact, would make it a little more believable...she's been wearing them for over 2 years, now...and her teeth look plenty straight, even in the episodes where she was supposed to be in high school...

Not at all! The best thing about Betty is that she doesn't change. She is comfortable in her own skin, despite the fact she is surrounded with fake people who are only perfrect on the inside. Betty has her own style and I think people respect her for her mind.

I do see where you are coming from, because initially, that was apart of her charm. However, it seems like the new season is starting to reveal her as not being so comfortable in her own skin. *Spoiler Alert* Her needing Gio to still like her in the cheese episode hints that she seeks validation from others, rather than coming through with her own confidence. Also, the episode last week, where both Daniel and her neighbor told her she was "beautiful," and, instead of being proud of being beautiful, by whichever means they said it, she dissected it, seemingly angry that they were talking about her "inner beauty." I just preferred it when they didn't focus so much on her being worried about how she looks, because it just highlights the flaw that she still doesn't change anything...despite how limited it makes her.

Hey, i totally agree with you. Christina's good at design, and betty's working in a fashion magazine, she didn't change at all. Is she so stubborn at changing or she's not that easily influenced? God, i expect her change from the very beginning, now i've arrived season 2, still no change.

Haha, you have a point ... I'd like to see her have a makeover but I don't know if the writers will go for it since the concept of the story is that Betty's beauty comes from within and she doesn't have to change any part of who she is to be successful
