Good News for me. As most of my friends here at MyLot know by now I work the graveyard shift. From 11:00 pm----To 7:00 am and have been doing this since April of this year, I had no choice in this matter it was a mandatory request made by my employer. I have not gotten used to this shift yet. I am really too old to be working this shift, I had to work because my income is the only income coming in my home. I will still be out of a job at the end of the year the company is closing it's doors. My good news is I will be on the second shift starting Monday until closing they are cutting out the whole third shift. My hours now will be 3:00 pm to 11:00pm. Not good hours but I will not have to sleep all day and I can get my meals back on schedule. I don't have to eat and lay down any more that is what I was doing on the graveyard shift, eat and go to bed, it gave me heart burn and acid indigestion. My hours on MyLot will be changing also. I will be on some during the mornings and again after 11:00pm est . And of course I still have my weekends.

I am really happy for learning this from you! I am an ex-industrial employee and have worked plenty of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. shifts tears before. I never got a decent amount of sleep at one time as I was tired in night shifts. Usually I had to spend a part of my day without sleeping. I worked also in 2nd shift with timing 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. before I said good bye to that firm and that was easier on my normal lifestyle. I could get to sleep at a natural time at 10 p.m. and have my mornings and a part of the afternoon before work. Now I am a freelancer and have 24x7 freedom for choosing my work-time! Hope, you know better the freedom of a freelancer! Thanks for this nice topic and have a good day!

Second shift is my hubby's favorite. My hours are in the process of changing as well. Look for my discussion. I am excited for the improved health options you will be having. I have not taken hours when they have involved third shift. I am on here at all different hours, myself.

Yes I worked for this company for 8 yrs on 2nd shift, the HR person came around and ask me to take the 1st, I stayed on 1st for a couple of months and the creeps came back and put me on 3rd. Now God has worked it out.

Sounds like good news for you, well, as good as it can be with you still losing your job and all.. I hate to have my routine upset like that, I am such a creature of habit.. I wish you luck after your job ends, are you going to try and find another one??

I will rest I have nights after 11:00 pm until afternoon 2:00 pm the next day to get rest. I have nights and mornings, I have no responsibilities I live alone. I am used to this I raised 3 children on 2nd shift and I worked for this company for 8 years on second shift. Second shift is not a problem to me. I can go to the doctor in the morning, I can get my bills paid in the morning, me being alone I can move a mountain before time to go to work. Plus it will only be for about 4 weeks the plant is still planning on closing. That is when the problem will start all over again no job. But I am saying prayers for that problem, and I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Right now I am thinking about my health. And 3rd shift was not good for it.

Congats on getting your normal schedule back. I bet you are really looking forward to being on a more regular schedule!!! I can imagine it wouldnt be fun to have to sleep all day and work all night. It would really mess me up!

Hey chevee! That's great news that you are changing shifts! It will be alot easier to be on the that shift I'm sure! At least you will be home at night and can sleep at night and get up in the daytime and not have to sleep all day! Gee, I should work at night since I don't seem to be able to sleep! I know that can really mess up your body. I hope that now your body can adjust to a more normal schedule. So we will be seeing you on here more often and at different times. That will be very nice! I'm looking forward to it!

I hope that the shift change you are having would do you good. Night shift is not so good for health as it affects our Natural cycle of waking up and sleep . Regards
