Do you burn candles?

I am not allowed to burn a single candle in my home, unless the power is out. My fiances mom had left a candle burning when he still lived at home, and caught their house on fire. If it wasn't for his pit bull thor waking him up to the fire, he might not be alive right now. My fiance also thinks that it puts a residue on the walls. So I use candle warmers, they are much safer, and heat the candle evenly. My favorite scents are cinnamon apple, peach, pumpkin spice, and country scents. So do you burn candles in your home? What are your favorite scents? Do you use anything besides candles, like incense?

I sometimes use candles when there isn't an outage just for the sake that it is relaxing. My favorites are green apple and any flower based one excluding lavender for some reason that really irritates my allergies... At my parents home we never lit candles unless there was no power since there were those of use with asthma, allergies, sensitivities and what not... i myself have bad allergies... but i make a point of putting the candles in an open room and not a small one. I don't light them as often as i like since i do end up sneezing at times and so does my husband... plus he is not a romantic lol.. i lit candles once and set the table with a special dinner i made for our anniversary and i got all dressed up.. you know what he did?? proceeded to blow them out saying "ohhh... ugh.. what IT that horrible smell!!" =P It was a light fragrance of green apples and i liked it a lot because it was just that... LIGHT =P hence why we don't burn candles except reallll rarely lol No i don't use incense i'd love to but the smoke that comes off them (besides the actual scent) really makes me sick to my stomach so they are a no no and banned in a sense.

Hi tlb! I'm sorry about your financee's home. I guess that would make me be afraid of candles forever too. I am very careful when I am burning candles. I have candles that are in large jars and I make sure to keep an eye on them at all times so that my cats don't go near them. I worry about them trying to knock them over. Only these jars are very heavy and I don't think that the cats could knock the over even if they tried to. I have all different scents that I like. Right now I have a strawberry and a melon candle in the large jars. I think I also have a cinnamon one too, but that one I'm saving for Christmas because it is a red candle. I have some others that are smaller ones too. I have a rose scented one and I think one that is an ocean breeze. I love candles and the different scents. I used to burn incense, but haven't in a long time. I still have some strawberry and jasmine inscense.

I burn candles all the time, especially scented ones. I love the way they make the house smell. Its unfortunate that your fiance went through that ordeal and has that fear of candles but it is understandable. Ive used a candle warmer a couple of times.

Hello,Tib! Normally we don't burn candles at home.It is burnt when the light goes off and blowout when the light comes back because the smoke of the candle is not good for health. Now I have kept three emergency charging lights. So when the light goes off automatically the charging torch lights the rooms. So I don't feel the necessity of burning a candle in such occasion.thanx.

I've never thought about using candle warmers. I didn't give any thought because I really didn't know how they would work. But from reading this it seems like it would work pretty good. I think i'm gonna have to give them a try because I like burning candles but its hard too with have to small children. My favorite scent would be vanilla. I also use incense. Happy Mylotting!!!!

I love burning candles especially if their scented ones which let off a gorgeous fragrance when they are lit. However I do know what you mean about them being a fire hazard...as a child growing up it was drummed into me numerous times that candles can cause fires so ever since then i've always made sure when I light a candle I stand it away from any fabric or surface prone to getting hot. I also make sure the candle is on a steady surface and won't fall when knocked. Finally I ensure the candle is blown out if I leave the room or go to sleep.
