Have you ever read the Bible seriously?

I haven't read the Bible seriously in my life. I only read the Bible when my students have assignments about religion. Although I am a Catholic and I go to church and pray the rosary, I still don't read the Bible to really understand about religion. My belief is that for as long as I am going to church, praying and helping other people, I don't need to read the Bible.

Reading the bible is good for us to know what our Lord want us to do in our life. All of this are the teaching of God. We will know from here so many things and we called it the complete book. From the very beginning of Cration (Old Testament) and up to the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ in the New Testament. You can read inside the bible about the life like our relationship to others and many more. I cannot say that I have read all the content of my Bible but we are having our weekly bible study. It is good and you can find the answers to your questions if you are confuse in so many things. Try it my friend.

I'll be honest and say that I have read it seriously but really don't understand a lot of things about it. I believe in the church, the Bible, and doing God's will. But then again, sometimes I don't understand things about the book at all. I learned recently, that there are many Bibles out there that speak in "laymans" terms so I can better understand it. If you choose to read one, my personal favorite is Joyce Meyer's version. She has her own antics in it that better the understanding of the Bible. She also includes little stories along the way. Good luck.

It is too bad that you don't read the Bible because you're really missing out on what God has to say. It could be likened to your students attending your class but never opening their text books to learn from them.

Please do read the Bible in a serious manner. Before you sit down to read the word of God, pray and ask God to give you the wisdom and knowledge to understand from it.You will be amazed at what you will find out. The Bible teaches us about our creation, our end , our salvation and our eternal life. It is important for us to understand these things and also to teach our kids these things.I liked the idea of one of our friends who mentioned above that getting an layman version of the bible should sure help out. Turn to the internet, you will find 100 of sites where they have leasons and tecahing of "studying the Bible". These should help too.
