about 3weeks ago my sister borrowed my flashdrive and used it on a computer from one of the cafes here in our city. The next time I used it on or own PC out popped a blue rectangular box that says "this computer is being attacked" and the box kept bouncing off on corners, then it would disappear for a minute then back again. I ran our antivirus system over and over and over until finally the box disappeared. We thought our troubles were over until recently, like just this week, I noticed that the computer is slowing down in all its processes. Double clicking doesnt work as it used to. some icons could not be opened, and some programs wouldn't run anymore. My friends have christened our pc as "The Turtle". Yes, sadly every other process has slowed down, some to a stop. But we've run the antivirus so many times already and there wasnt anything on. =(

Some of the virus can't be traced and detected by anti virus software. Especially for the new kind of virus and for user who using free anti virus. Based on the symptom I'm sure that your computer has already been infected. Can you try to download free Virus cleaner software from Trend Micro under the name SysClean. You download the program, then the scan engine pattern. Perhaps it can help to trace and clean your computer back. For more info www.trendmicro.com

Is it okay to have two antivirus programs in one computer? Our pc has the AVG antivirus. I havent used the pc for 2 days now due to the problem. Thanks for the advice, by the way =)

SysClean is not an antivirus. It's an independent virus cleaner. You don't even need to install it either. Just run the scan.

Then go to safe mode and scan your computer. To start your computer in safemode, press f8 when the computer starts. Becoz in safemode the scanning takes place more effectively. And if this also doesnt work, repair your xp with windows xp cd, so tat u dont need to reinstall the xp again.

Uhm... can you please expound on the 'repair you xp with windows xp cd so tat u dont need to reinstall the xp again?" I was also told by my friend to do this one but I'm not sure how to go about it. If I'd do this, would I lose all of my files and programs? Do I need to make a copy of all my files to another pc? Sorry, I've never been techie =) Thanks for the post, by the way.

Hello alyssa_c. I used to use my unistick in another computer in the school office besides mine and viruses were brought into my computer when used again in my computer. Later I never do this again to keep my computer safe from getting attacked by viruses transmitted from another computer.
