I have read so many heartbreaking stories of how people are trying to cope with a frugal Christmas. So many have lost jobs and do not have the extra money to spend on gifts for children that they used to in past Christmases. I also had many 'lean' Christmas'. I just want to say to Christians out there to take heart and also remember the following: Jesus was not born in any luxurious home. Think about it. He was born in the filth of animal droppings and nasty smells. The straw was probably wet and stinky too. December 25 th is probably not even the correct day of His birth, but who cares? The fact is that He was born so that we may have eternal life. Read the Christmas story to your children or discuss it with your teens. You can try to amke things a little festive for them but use this day to give them your attention. Play old fashioned board games like Monopoly etc. Please don't run up your credit card debt. You can still have fun just by being together. Ask you older children how they would like to spend the day. Their answers may surprise you. do any of you have any other ideas how struggling families can make this day special for their children?
