I'm talking about everybody's favorite time of the year. Making a list for Christmas presents. What was / is the tradition for your family on making lists for presents? Do you just ask your children or do you have them make a list? When I was growing up I was always just asked and still are just asked. Although the last couple of years has found me where we don't get presents. Now, last year, I was living with my fiance and his parent's. I still am, but last year was shortly after I moved in. I didn't feel comfortable with making a list, but was made to make a list of stuff that I wanted for Christmas. I tried to get by with stuff my fiance wanted, but well, that didn't work out. I just asked my fiance, and he said that he has always made lists. So, what's your tradition for finding out what everyone in your house wants for Christmas? Happy Holidays. Have a Redneck Christmas.

My three younger children always make a list of what they want for Christmas and then will put stars by the things that they want the most. My elder two children who are both teenagers no longer make a list they just tell me what they would like. As a child i use to make a list my mum would take me, my brother and sister out round the shops in the October half term to have a browse to see what we wanted for Christmas. Then we would make a list of the things we had seen that we really wanted.

I know it's better and easier to make a list, last year my fiance's mom took our lists with her to go shopping, while she was shopping for everyone else (family, and people she babysits for) she asked us which c.d. we wanted, or which season of Walker we wanted, then had us go get it. We did ofcourse have presents we weren't expecting, it was a nice Christmas! I think when my fiance and I expand our family we'll do the same thing, have them write things done. I think it's cool that you got to do that as a child, I think mostly we watched commercials or maybe mosied down the toy aisle, but this was always during a grocery shopping trip! I appreciate the response and happy holidays!

We always make lists too I know it's Ok for the kids but it does kinda feel weird with the adults! But it sure beats getting alot of stuff you would never use! Stick with the list!! LOL Good Luck!

Lol, I read what you wrote to my fiance and he said "exactly, it's better then getting like 100 pairs of socks." Me on the hand, wouldn't mind 100 pairs of socks, as long as their different colors, lol. In any case, I agree though that it's better to make a list so that you know what your getting! Or have a good idea! I appreciate the response!
