This happened to me twice when I was in college. My friend and I are too busy chatting with other so we forgot to pay our fare and the only time I realized that we didn't pay our jeepney fare was when I counted my money. . It was more than what I'm supposed to have. . So then I asked my friend, did we pay our fare earlier today? Then that's when we both realized that we forgot about it. Another experience was when my mind was to clouded with a lot of things then I only realized that I haven't paid yet when I got off the jeepney. By the way, for the benefit of those people who doesn't what a Jeepney is. It's actually theh cheapest form of transportation here in the Philippines. To all you my fellow Filipinos, have you ever forgotten to pay your jeepney or bus fare? Please do share your experiences on why you forgot about it. Do any you have "purposely" forgot to pay the bill . Don't be shy I won't judge you. LOL.

One time I also forgot to pay my jeepney fare. I was busy talking to my friend in my cellphone when I reach my destination. I didn't notice that I still have the money in my hand that I was supposed to give to the driver to pay him. Luckily I notice it before I left the jeepney.

Oh yeah I see in the movies that you will have to pay your fare first or the bus driver won't open the door. Is that right?

Nope that isn't how it is done. You walk up the bus steps their is the machine that takes your money and you have to have exact change or a bus pass to be able to ride the bus. When you deposit your money into the machine you can go back find a seat. Now with Greyhound buses it is different you have to show a ticket before getting on the bus.

I see that's why you can't forget to pay for the fare. I wonder why we don't have that here. Another thing, we Filipinos can actually "stand" to stand up inside the bus itself. Especially when it is really difficult to get a ride. I'm sure you guys don't have that in your country. Thanks for sharing this have a good day!!

During my college days, I always have the habit of exactly paying the right amount to the driver, utilizing that student fare as much as possible. And whenever my money wasn't exact or I had bills, I'd always ask the driver on how much it would cost to get to my destination, and then follow it up with how much would it cost for students. (^_^ ) One time on a bus ride going home, I already had my fare in hand while waiting for the conductor to collect it. Suprisingly, he immediately gave me the exact change that I would get if I paid a hundred peso yet, he hasn't even collected my payment for the fare.. I had vacillations if it were luck or what but, I called for the conductor and told him that he hasn't took my payment, he even automatically gave me another set of change but, I informed him that he already did the first time. (^_^") On jeep rides, I was riding one on my way back home when the jeep suddenly halted and the driver asked for the passengers to transfer to another jeep. He then gave everyone their fare back yet, to my convenience, the place that we stopped at was close enough to the destination that I was headed. Being handed with the fare I paid, it seemed like I got a free ride yet, I politely declines and stated that I we were already close to my stop and then got out of the jeep, I always liked riding along side the driver than those long benches at the back.. This other one, though not related to travel would be forgetting to pay for the meal we ate. It was due to while I was eating with a classmate of mine, a few other classmates of ours passed by and saw us. They invited us to come along with them at the mall to buy something. The one I was eating with had other things to attend to so I was the only available. After eating, I went and met with those other classmates of ours and headed to the mall. It was only then at the mall that I realized that I and that classmate of mine that I ate with hadn't paid for the meal. The next day, we went back and paid at the cashier, even though the cashier really didn't look concerned at all (^_^ )

Well, it was a late trip so fatigue does affect how one thinks and the conductor seemed like a good person and just doing his work. I just happen to have done that since I don't want to be treated in a way wherein I am being taken advantage of. (^_^ ) If ever we could straighten something we did wrong, we should always do. (^_^ )

That bus conductor is not in his right mind. What if you are different person who keeps the money for himself then they would have been short for the day! Tsk tsk. Kudos to you for telling the guy that you haven't paid your money and for telling him that he already handed your change. Well since you mentioned about forgetting to pay for a meal, I remember forgetting to pay for a meal while I was with my friends. All of us forgot to pay for our meal and as usual because we are too busy chatting and giggling with each other. But then of course when we realized we forgot about it we just went back to apologize and pay our meal.

Hi yuna. I have never forgotten to pay my fare eversince I was old enough to ride a jeepney. But there was this one time when I was a teenager that I really had no choice. I was with a friend whom I thought had enough money for our jeepney fare. As it turned out, she thought that I did. And to make matters worse, we were at SM Megamall and had to go home to Quiapo. We didn't want to do the unthinkable but we really wanted to go home because it was already getting dark. We chose the longest jeepney and we sat ourselves farthest from the driver. As the ride went on, we kept asking silently for the driver's forgiveness because even we wanted to pay him, we didn't have any money.

Oh no!The driver had no idea that he had two juvenile passengers!Because he had a long vehicle and that meant, a lot of passengers, he didn't notice that my friend and I never paid our fare. But all throughout the ride, my friend and I were so scared that the driver will find out that we still haven't paid him. And we'll both end up in BIG TROUBLE. And that's why we have asked for his forgiveness in our minds.

You have a sharp mind. As for you not being able to pay that's alright. At least you guys were honest enough to tell the driver that you can't pay them. Just curious though did the driver say anything to both of you?

I think I have forgot to pay my jeepney fare twice or thrice. This event happened back in college days when me and my other two friends have a drink. I asked my friend whose near in the driver's seat if she already paid our jeepney fare and she said yes. I am not drunk that time as I only had one bottle though they are tipsy. When we got off the jeep, they said thanks to me for paying the fare and I was so confused coz' I thought there the one's who pays the fare. They thought that the money I handed to her is our fare but it is actually somebody's money. We were laughing and a bit guilty. One time I didn't pay my jeepney fare purposely because the driver is so reckless and sarcastic. They are old people whose in the jeep and the other passengers especially the women told the driver to be careful in driving but he didn't mind it and mutter some faulty words that brings my blood pressure. By the way he unload us passengers almost a kilometer away the terminal.

That guy is having a bad day but not enough reason to put the lives of his passengers in danger. I had an experience similar to that. The driver is really hot-headed and it looks like he's out his mind. He didn't notice that he bumped his jeep into a boy already. I hate those people! Tsk tsk. Take note, there were a lot of school boys and girls during that time and as a driver he was supposed to be careful. These people should be taught a good lesson.

I remember doing that, intentionally, back in college. Same as you! I bet you know the layman term "1-2-3", I used to do that whenever I loose enough money to pay for transportation. I sit behind the driver's seat so I'd be the one getting the other passengers' payments so I could hand it to the driver. Luckily the driver did not notice i did not pay my fare! Sometimes I do that just for the "fun" of it. That time the fare wasn't that expensive so I thought a driver losing Php7.50 (which is now equivalent to Php23) wouldn't really mind giving free transportation fare for one passenger. I undeclaringliy volunteer myself! Now I do not do that childhood play, I am 27 years old now, and I fully understand the hardwork these jeepney drivers are doing just to feed their family. I salute them for their dedication to sacrifice their days driving to give their family what they really deserve to have a good living.

my expereince is a bit different, i was on my way home and the jeepney was really crowded. I asked someone to hand my fare to the driver, I gave him 20 pesos. I kept waiting for my change but after 5 minutes or so, the man that was suppose to give my fare to the driver gave the money as his own fare! He even took the change that was suppose to be mine. I didn't want to cause any commotion and i was really tired that time so i just let it go.. Now i give the exact fare and i choose only jeeps which have less passangers..

I remember a passenger doing the exact same thing. The old lady even had the "face" to ask for the change when the money she handed over wasn't hers. Good thing the driver is keen enough to know that the lady didn't pay at all.

hhahaha !!! I did and it was my embarrassing moment. I was with my boyfriend at that time. I got down the jeepney and talk to my friend who is waiting for me. I just wonder why the jeep did not go, I thought they are still waiting for passengers but the conductor is waiting for me to pay my fare. He did not interrupt me talking.. he is so polite that I give him more than what i suppose to pay. hahahaahah it is just a good thing that the driver and conductor are not impatient.

i almost did. i was so engrossed on something on my way to work and busy sending messages with my cellphone that it totally lost my mind to pay my jeepney fare. when i was about to reach my destination i noticed that the jeepney driver kept on looking at me with in his rear view mirror until i opened the back pocket of my bag and i saw the coins that i have prepared for my fare. i could have been a shameful experience if i didn't realized it most likely the jeepney driver will call my attention of not paying my fare. LOL. what a shame.

Some jeepney drivers will say something like "Yung mga di pa nagbabayad dyan, magbayad na po malapit na tyo" (To all those who haven't paid yet, please pay, we are near our destination) that way they can avoid humiliating anybody.

Hi yuna. Yep, I had experienced not paying my jeepney fares back in college. Some of them, I really forgotten to pay and some, well, let's just I intentionally didn't pay hehehe. There were times when I really ran out of money because I got short-changed on my previous ride. I really wanted to ride on that same jeepney I didn't pay for once to pay my debt(s).

Style! Well it does happen to most students. My brother used to intentionally do that as well because most of the time he doesn't have money to pay his fare. Sometimes I'm the one who gives him money because I was lucky to have gotten a part time job while I'm studying.

Oh my gosh! It happened to me once and I really can't forget about it. It happened about six months ago, my aunt from Canada had a vacation here. I was already in the jeepney heading home and I felt really really sleepy. There was a heavy traffic so it made me more sleepy. Until I heard someone calling my name. I thought I was just dreaming and wondered why should I hear my aunt's voice so I just ignored it. When I closed my eyes, I heard the voice again and the other passengers of the jeepney were talking like who among us in the jeep was being called by that lady. I looked at the car beside the jeepney and I saw my aunt there with my mother. So it was not a dream after all! She told me to get out of the jeep and ride with them instead, since they were also on the way home. So I hurried down and got inside the car. When I got there, I realized that I haven't paid yet! Oh my gosh again, I was so ashamed of my self. I told it to my aunt and mother. What my aunt did was, she asked our driver to stop beside the jeepney which I used to ride earlier. Our driver called the jeepney driver and handed 20 pesos. He told the driver this, "sorry, the girl who just got down forgot her fare, keep the change". I was like, okay, great. I just hope the other passengers did not remember my face at all!

Well don't worry about it the fact that you are able to pay (which is more than what you were supposed to pay) your fare. They should be happy that they were still able to get the fare even if you forgot about it.

Yes, it was really funny to remember that situation in my life. We don't intend to do that. It just so happen that me and my boyfriend was so busy talking to each other. I thought he have paid the fare that's why I don't pay for it. As we came to the mall where we used to go, I asked if we have paid the jeepney. He said he did not because he thought I have paid it. I feel shy during that time but we can't pay anymore because the vehicle was already gone. Another lesson learned for us.

*lol* I think all people should be excused for temporary bouts of amnesia. *lol* Anyway, to answer your question, yes, I have experienced forgetting to pay transportation - jeepney, FX, bus - fare, though never on purpose. It happened more often when I was a student (nowadays, I take the MRT and taxis more often than not) when I'd realize later in the day when I'd find my morning fare safely tucked into one of my pockets when it's not supposed to be there, anymore.

yes I do have the same experience of forgetting the payment for the jeepney. It was back in high school when it happened. I was really preoccupied that day when I went to school. Then at the jeepney I was too busy reading my school material and ended going down together with the other passengers. I was surprised that I haven't paid my fare. Oh well, maybe an honest mistake for me. LOL

Naughty children! . Most of the drivers can actually forgive children but if adults do that then that's a different story.
