In the US, you are not allowed to teach children to pray in the school system. I take my children to church and they learn to pray there. When they were little, we would always say a bedtime prayer together before they went to sleep.

they dont teach children to pray because of the school system? can you please enlighten me... with what reason why they are not teaching children to pray? or maybe your school is a non-sectorial school. any one from any religion can go to school there. hope you can enlighten me. thanks a lot for the response

My kids go to public school and the children in the public schools are from all different religions, so have no religion. They are not allowed to pray in schools. They can't even celebrate Christmas or Easter. They do have Holiday parties at Christmas time so it covers all of the beliefs, but those who are Jahovas don't celebrate with the rest of the class.

thank you for the enlightenment. yes that is what goes to my mind when you say that they dont teach children to pray. here in our country there are schools also who dont teach any religion so they dont teach to pray and they are called non-sectorial schools. no matter what religion you are in you are welcome. thank you again fpr that.

It is best to teach them while they are young. As soon as they start saying their first word.I remember I learned my prayers by watching my elders pray before meal and every six pm everyday. When I had my own children.I thought them the sign of the cross as soon as they start communicating with us calling me ma.I was happy remembering her do it.Later when they are grown up kids we hear mass together every Sunday.Praying should start at home.It is a mother's responsibility in my opinion.
