This is the news I read this morning that happened in Sweeden where a 15 years old schoolboy has collapsed and went into convulsions after playing World of Warcraft game for 24 hours non stop. You can get the full news here : http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article5173755.ece In case like this, to whom we should put the blame on? Is it on the parents for not taking care of their children, for the game developer for developing the game that caused this problem or for the children themselves?

Man, what a bad case of obsessive playing. Did he not eat or even rest a bit? For me, it was his fault for not trying to rest a bit. Too much can kill you and he's lucky he just collapsed. Also, I think the grown ups should have tried to tell him to stop for a while and rest. Tsk,tsk...

I guess he's meditating while playing the games It's too much, is it? Too devote your life solely for the games is not a good thing. I dont know what his parents are doing. Maybe too busy to chase the wealth until they ognored their child.

They probably don't have the willpower and the strength to put their child in line. Maybe they just give up after reprimanding him and murmuring, "Don't say I didn't tell you so...."

Well, leave the developers out of this. The parents have a responsibility to watch or set limits to their children's playing hours. 24 hours without sleep; even I, a 24-year-old gamer, would faint from lack of sleep.

Yes,maybe you're right. The developer can't be blamed on this but lack of control from parents and guardian makes the children not aware about the bad effects from their habits. But, is it possible for parents to sue the game developer in this case? I heard it sometimes ago, parents sue game company because of the bad influence on their children. I'm not sure which game and which developer involved because it's around last two years if I'm not mistaken.

Well, I'm not sure about that. It depends on the law of the country. If this had been the United States, then yes, the parents have a legal right to sue the developer for liability to the incident. I've read some cases where companies in the United States are sued for indirect liability. For example, a restaurant that serves drinks to an inebriated person who got into an accident later on can be sued for indirect liability and for damages.

Ive played world of warcraft before, my boyfriend is a gaming nerd and made me. It is pretty addicting if I may say so, but yet so another other gamme you come across so WoW isnt to blame for this. I play my fair share of solitaire. I think its the boys fault and solely the boys fault. He could have stopped playing, but for some stupid reason he wouldnt. It is all his fault he should have known better. Even the dumbest person in the world would have known better.

I just find that stupid. I dont think anyone should be blamed but the boy. Hes 15 and not stupid, he knows better to get up to go to the bathroom, and to get up when he feels hungry, and to go to bed when hes tired. I know world of warcraft can be very addictive, but so can any game that anyone can be addicted to. So if anyone should get blamed in the matter it should be the boy. He can walk himself, he can talk himself, he can feed himself, he is almost the age to drive a car, but yet isnt capable of taking himself away from that screen? Its nobodies fault but him

Sounds a bit angry,do you? I'm also thinking the same because the boy is already 15 years old and he suppose to know what is good and what is bad. Instead he just follow the feelings and desire so this is what happened to him.

wow! i wouldn't wonder if such thing would happen to the boy.just can't imagine being stuck on the computer 24/7 and your mind is constantly working without any rest at all.i guess the parents are to be blamed for this.if only they were looking out for their child's health then this shouldn't have happened.i just hope this won't happen to other child as well.

I'm sharing the same hope with you. For me,computer games is good but they must know how to use it. In this case, it's too much already. For sure the boy's mind can't think anything else except the game.

My cousin did that really. He was so addicted to computer games. What's worse...the owner of the internet cafe even went to out house to tell us that my cousin had been staying there more than 24 hours and he has not eaten anything at all. They even gave him a biscuit. Gosh!! My mom and dad got really mad at him.

Wow!This is really amazing. How old is your cousin? I'm sure every parents will be mad if their children behaves like that. I really hope that your cousin can change his habit because it's really doesn't bring any good to him.

as the internet is becoming more and more universal, huge population of minors also flood into the area.ye,we should recognize that internet bring us a lot of good things.but some "virus" also come in. the story you have reffered is unfortunately and the schoolboy is compassionate.who should be responsible for that?nobody!ye,nobody even his parents.you know, there are too much temptation around us in the world.and these temptation will go together with us for all of our life, our parents can not stand beside us and say "you should not do that" at any time.so self-control is the most important.but self-control is also the most diffcult.the schoolboy is only 15 years, right?oh,ye ,that is the age of playing cynically.i ( 24 years old) also indulge in winning eleven sometimes.haha
