The November 20th issue of The Nation has an article in the comment section by Jeremy Brecher(a historian) and Brendan Smith (a legal anylist) announcing that on Nov 14 a group of lawyers and other experts will go before the German federal prosecutor and as for a criminal investigation targeting Donald Rusmfel, Alberto Gonzales and other key Bush Administration figures for war crimes. The recently enacted Military Commissions Act 2006 provides a centrall arguement for such an action as it demonstrates the intent of the Bush administration to immunize itself from prosecution in the United States. Note: Rumsfeld two years ago, was being named in a case in Germany by CCR (center for constitutional rights) on behalf of four Iraqi victims of Abut Ghraib, drawing on documents and photos revealing abuse of prisoners. Rumsfeld refused to attend a security conference unless the charges against him were dropped as he knew he could be served papers or even arrested. Thinking he would be tried by the U.S., they dropped the charges and Rumsfeld was in Germany the next day for the conference. The world knows our administration is rife with war criminals, so how do you feel about U.S. leadership?
