Wireless connection for my hp laptop

i bought a Hp Pavilion dv6000 and it includes a wireless connection. My friend said that i needed a router in order to access the wireless connection.
Can anyone recommmend a router that i should use for my HP Pavilion dv6000 and is there anyone how can tell me how to use a router??
