Is winter a good time to travel?

If you live in a cold country do you feel like visiting a hot destination? Have you ever been on vacation in the winter time? I traveled around the world and spent Christmas swimming at a beach in tropical Queensland. I went to New Zealand and on Christmas Day I snorkeled with dolphins and on New Year's Eve I went to the Ninety Mile Beach. I went to St Lucia in the autumn time and felt freezing when I came home after the tropical heat.

yes winter is good to travel.i would like to go to asia which warm and relaxing.

Hi Bombshell. When it is cold in Europe it would be lovely to go to Asia for the hot weather. Some destinations are hot and dry for half the year and hot and wet for the other half of the year.

I also want to leave on some country to rest where is warm and sunny while there is the winter in Latvia.I don't like coldness:(

That's one thing about living in Minnesota :) It gets pretty cold here in the winters, so it is a great feeling to have a trip planned to a tropical place. One year we went to Florida for Christmas and New Years and it was around the same temperature as it was here in Minnesota, so it was pretty chilly in Florida, but "mild" in Minnesota. Things were flip-flopped :) Other tropical places my family has traveled in the winter are Hawaii and the Bahamas and Disney's own island known as Castaway Cay (pronounced "key") (we went on a Disney Cruise. There are many other tropical places I would like to travel to :)

Winters would be a lovely time to travel. Our winters are very harsh and cold, despite the fact we live so near the beach. The other night, the temperature was near freezing. I would have loved some tropical heat about then.

Hi Maxine, One Christmas when the girls were at their fathers I decided to go to the Canary Islands for Christmas to visit a friend and got sunburnt on Christmas day. I hated it. I would have preferred to be at home in front of the fire even if it did mean being alone that year. I will never venture to a warmer climate again in the wintertime but as you know from previous discussions I am a home loving bird. Huggles. Ellie :D

I think if you hate the cold then the winter is a very good time to travel only if you are going to go somewhere hot. Lots of retired people tend to flock to Spain for a long winter break to get away from the english winter

Hi!yes...very good time to travel. I am very much aware of winter in Switzerland where my nephew and niece would have bleeding lips and during winter there. During winter my sister's family goes to Greece,Florida and Asia. But Thank goodness they are here now somewhere in South Luzon already. Here in Davao,we have neighbors whose husbands are Germans,Irish,Japanese,Koreans and Aussies. They really come to the Philippines during winter. As for as Filipinos...we wish we are in winter land during the holidays...LOL,but maybe for a week only...just to experience...
