http://biz.yahoo.com/cnnm/081121/112008_unemployment_benefits.html?.&.pf=career-work This is good news for many unemployed Americans. I hope the extra extension will help them make ends meet until they find a job. I wonder when they say actively seeking, for example if you work as a secretary making $20.00/hour then there is a secretary position at $10.00/hour are you expected to take this job; otherwise they disqualify you as actively seeking job? or worse, no office jobs, but waitressing? How does that work?

I am currently unemployed in Vermont and I get $100 a week from unemployment. Before I got laid off I was making at the very least $425 a WEEK! I don't even get enough money to pay my rent. Actively seeking employment just means that you're out there everyday looking. In VT you have to apply for at least 3 jobs a week, I apply to at least that many everyday! And here the rule is that you take a REASONABLE offer of employment. That could mean that you take a job that pays half or even a quarter of what you're used to making or that you take a job outside of your normal field but they are pretty understanding regarding the type of employment. I guess it depends on the individual you are working with at the unemployment office. I don't know, I just want to get back to work!

Wow that is less than half. I hope you can find employment soon that pays well and helps pay your bills. It is horrible to be unemployed. I was unemployed before, but did not qualify for unemployment so the feeling was so bad. I wish this recession ends soon before it becomes a big mess. good luck with your job hunting.
