Is my cat broken?

I know that is an odd question. LOL
Vanessa - is a through and through black colored kitty. She gets eye gunk that is black (looks like sleep but it is black), last night she had a black booger (I say booger but it was more like dried gunk by her nose that definitely came out of her nose). Is that normal?
I have asked the vet about the eye gunk and I was told that it wasn't odd that it was dark/black because it is dirt.

If your cat has a large, wide nose she probably has a sinus cavity that you could hide a treatie in. My cat is the same way. He gets the eye gunk and it turns dark red or black looking. My son wipes the cats face down with a soft washrag in warm water every morning. The vet says that his sinuses and his eye ducts are too blame. When the fluid oozes it's the discoloration is from the air hitting the fluid and it oxidizes, so that's why it always looks black or dark red.
