Entire nation forced to switch to HDTV

Regular "old" TV - My extravagant 40 inch TV set - soon to be useless unless...

The whole nation is switching to HDTV in February. If you don't have cable or satellite service, and use "rabbit ears" you must get a convertor box or you're out of luck! Two or three years ago I splurged and bought a 4o inch TV - we don't have cable or satellite service - I find that the network channels are perfectly sufficient - but now, unless I buy a box, my "extravagant" TV won't work anymore! Sure does stink! Yes, I ordered the coupons from the government to get 2 analog-to-digital converter boxes (that's all they'll give you), but that means that 2 of my five TVs (I do have one HDTV-ready set already though) will be useless! How do you feel about it? Why is it so important to make us all switch? I realize that I'm probably in the minority by not having cable or satellite service, but am I the only one who feels this switch is kind of unfair?

I think for the most part that many people are up to date with all of the technology in the world. It is expected to think that all people have computers in their homes, and all people have cable. The thing that the world has to consider is that not "EVERY" single person in the world has these things. some people are struggling financialy and can't afford to pay the extra money for a cable bill or for internet service. Not to say they are all poor. Some people choose not to have certain things in their homes because they don't wanna pay the bill. The thing I don't like is that this country is making people buy certain things or services in order to keep up with the rest of the world. They are making all these changes to make us spend money. It should be your choice to have cable in your home or not. If you are fine with regular TV, then it's your choice not to pay a cable bill. I see they are coming out with all of these Blu-ray dvd's. I guess pretty soon they are going to say that everyone has to have a Blu-ray dvd player in their homes. And all of the dvd's you currently own will be know good. Look at the Ipod. It's a good invention. Allowing people to walk around without having to carry a stack of cd's and a big bulky cd player when they want to jog and listen to their music. I for one don't own an Ipod yet. To me music is music. Until they make cd's extinct, I will continue to download music and burn them to my cd's. I'm not old fashioned, I just don't feel the need to run out and by every new invention that comes out.= right away. These companies know what they are doing when they come out with these products and services. That's how they keep themselves in business. They come out with one thing. And in a few months or years they will make it so you have to upgrade for a newer product, making you spend even more money. You are not the only one who feels the way you do. My cousin went to hand in his resume for this company a few years ago. The receptionist told him that they only accept resumes online. My cousin says "but i'm standing right hear in front of you with my resume, why can't I just hand it to you". Things like that make me pissed off! What if my cousin didn't have a computer at home, what the hell was he going to do?

I saw UfOs in the NON-HD movie "Overboard" starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell on YouTube. DIGITAL RECORDINGS are easily edited without detection. FILM, on the other hand, is not. WHY ARE we being FORCED to switch all visual media to HD? Do YOU care that much that you might get a little sharper image...really? If it means you have to pay $20 each for 2 tv converters and $40 each for all other tvs if you don't have cable or satellite? I'm really not that much of a connoisseur. I'm more interested in content than effects. Could it be that UFO sightings are getting so prevalent and being accidentally filmed so frequently that the govt decided to take this radical approach to be able to erase evidence that they are hiding these things from us? Suspend disbelief for a moment. See for yourself. this movie was filmed in 1987 I believe. Check out "Overboard" on YouTube. Find the 12 part upload by JunexXxbug.(this is the only one that is complete). Check out Part 11 . Go to 1:02/9:07 and start tapping the pause, play button quickly when you see little lightning fast blips start in the sky. Watch the sky in the background, upper left quadrant (It actually starts on the right side, but that is harder to catch). After your eyes get adjusted, you will see these little blips and know where to pause the movie in the rest of the film. There are at least a dozen instances of clearly being able to see these anomalous UFOs right there in this 21 year old film. It's absolutely mind-boggling. Nothing could be done to alter the film without it being detected. And why would they INSERT such things in a romantic comedy? No reason. Digitized recording is easily edited. So why you think we have to go DIGITAL all of a sudden? Think for yourself.

It's not a full switch to HDTV its a switch from analog to digital. They're 2 different things. a broadcast signal will be sent but only in the form of digital, which can be decoded by converter boxes. But if you have Cable or satellite, it's already a digital signal, so you're okay. HDTV is high definition, its like a step up from digital.
