I have been looking for a few (six or so) months now for a couple houses to rent for our family reunion next summer. We could get the same ones we've had before, but everyone's always crying that it's too expensive, it's too far away, blah blah blah... Well, I found a couple today that are just AWESOME!!! But I think they're WAY out of our price range... Normally, there are about 30-50 people that go on this "vacation". Most of us go for the entire week (abouit 30 of us) and the others just join us for a weekend or a few nights during the week. We like to rent 2 beach-area houses that sleep about 16-18 each. But, as everyone has been feeling the money crunch, I'm trying to find someplace a bit cheaper than what we've done in the past, but still get some bang for our buck. I've e-mailed my family to see if these places are "acceptable" and the one I was most worried about has given me the big thumbs-up! I'm just waiting to hear back from the rest of my family and the realtor. I'm hoping that they'll make a deal with us and we can get in because I really like the houses I just found!

It's really difficult to organize a vacation for such a big group. I think you are a good organizer. Hope you'll get the perfect house and have a nice vacation next summer. ^_^

Thank you! This is the 3rd one I've organized for my mom's side of the family. I'm only supposed to be in charge of the money aspect, but I got roped into doing it all. It's kinda neat actually!!! What's really funny is that my husband's family has kinda decided that I need to be the one in charge of doing theirs too!!!

Thanks! The houses I had found were in fact way out of our price range. I have since found 3 townhomes that are way under our budget so I'm trying to get my families response to that so I can book them !!!

Sounds like a fun way to occupy your time, planning for a summer vacation. I hope all of them are as easily swayed as the one you worried about. It would be nice to have a trip and have no one gripe.

Well, money's always an issue, but we all pull it off in the end. Normally it averages out to $250 per person for a week at the beach. We know it's a great deal and we all love getting together. And yeah, we gripe about it but it's so worth it! I get all excited just thinking about it!!!

I put $20 each paycheck away for this just like I would a bill. It's too important to not have the money for it. Family has always been important to us and we always have such a great time!! And YES!! I am SOOOO excited about this - even if we don't go to this place, I know we'll go somewhere TOGETHER.
