Both Java and .Net has its powerful. According to me, I will chose .Net because It's well-support and easy to program. There are a lot of tool which is supported from Microsoft, I don't find any different to do a project. Java is a big different from this. When we program in Java, we must contribute everything, button, text-box, from, messagebox..., especially report in java. You will find it very difficult to find a good report software which support in JAVA.

Do you know one of the two platforms, or are you looking at your first langauge? While fan boys on each side will push you at their choice the truth is it matter very little in the long run. Learning one OO & GC'ed language will mean the next is a short and simple road. Which one is easy to program? If all you care about is ease then Visual Basic. And VB.NET is just as powerful as C#.
