should she give us a model?

My teacher gave us a topic and ordered us to find the information about it on the books or the internet to write an short essay.
At first, I thought this is a simple task because the sources are rich. An essay is just a piece of cake. But day by day I found opposite completely. There is scarcely any information . In my opinion , the teacher should give us a model essay that can direct us how to write .

hey,
well, my lecturers used to do the same thing with us, as they never given us samples to follow.. we are the one who had to ask questions or go to their rooms.. but the more we delay, the worse we will feel as the time packs for the submission...
so, the same thing with you; if you still got plenty of time ahead, then consult your lecturer or your senior friends or your classmates to get some clues...
