What would you do when a girl hits back at you in front of your friends?

what would you when friend who is supposedly a girl hits back at you in front of your friends when you were just joking about her for fun and she actually takes it seriously and scoldes you in front of your mates and friends? that too with words which really pulls off your heart..what will you do in this sort of situation?

I would say sorry explain the situation and move on my way. I would probably keep my distance after that as well. No need to make a bad situation worse.

I think I would just say sorry and explaine you were only joking and that you wouldn't have if you had have known it was going to hurt her so much...what ever you said must have hurt in some way so best to say sorry and keep a friend i think..

But what if what i said is not that hurting compared to her..it was just a slight mix of words from my side and a harsh reply from the other side...?

Well I still think it is worth just explaining for the sake of someone elses feelings and possibly a friendship...
