If unfortunately we become homeless then what should we do?

It could be a variety of things that could cause a person to go homeless but i think in most cases its caused by the abuse of alcohol and drugs. For those I do not feel any sympathy.I mean, it's not only because of lack of money. They still have got hands to do some work and earn it. Do you feel sympathy for them? I don't feel much to be honest.
