I don't think so. I think that's like giving someone a prescription for whatever and then they go home and keep doing the same habits that got them to this point. And they think a prescription is going to fix it all even though they don't make any changes in their life. I don't believe giving all of us money is going to FIX the economy. I think we all need to take a class in handling money and budgeting money and investing money. In learning the correct way to handle money, that's where real long lasting change is going to start from. What's your take?

On a short term basis, the government pumping money into the economy is the only solution, not only in the US, but across the globe. Nations will have to find ways to make their own economy at least sustain, if not reverse out of the rut that the world has fallen into due to the financial crisis. No major economy is now isolated, all are connected in some manner or the other and the worst is yet to come say most financial gurus and pundits. Global economy and financial products, asset classes have become very complex, and require the right form of control, rather than some form of control. I thinks it's the question of who will watch the watchdog/s? The ratings agencies messed it up, and one wonders if this was really done by mistake, because there are questions of conflict of interest, (many of the ratings agencies had some sort of stake or the other in the financial institutions/asset classes that they were rating). I don't think that any government in any part of the world will take action against the erring ratings agencies because rocking the boat too much could tip it over completely and there would then exist only anarchy and mayhem, and also, there is a question of integrity, which is generally absent in all offices of power. Human greed is another major malady that may never have a cure. Greed of a few has lead to the misery around the planet..... There are a number of complexities that need to be sorted... but, Too long this post, and maybe boring too, so let me bid thee adieu....

You make some good points! It is really frustrating that things happen because of the media and the assumptions of those who have a lot of pull. This is a complex thing, that's why I don't start these types of discussions normally, but you did get me to thinking. Thanks.

Well you may not see things through other ways. I am not single but practically do all the work for my son. My fiance lost his job. I work only part time and tend to my son who tends to get sick alot. I live with my parents. My fiance lives with his parents. I budget well. I put back money every month for christmas and for my sons birthday. I look forward to tax season so I get extra money to buy some decent stuff for me. Its the only time I can buy me some clothes or me something I actually need. I know being a mom is like that, but I look forward to that stimulus check as well. This year I have to look into buying another car because mine is giving out on me. I only hope it can hold on for a few more months. I know there are greedy people out there who do not deserve that stimulus check but it helps me out alot.

I do certainly understand your situation and from what you've said, you are responsible with your money and take care of things that need to be taken care of first. I commend you for what you are doing in taking care of your son and working to get things on track financially. I'd say you're doing a great job!!!
