I can only answer this based on personal experience. I doubt very much that being fat makes one less sensitive to the cold. Our body uses the same nerves to sense pain and temperature, so if we can feel pain when we stub our toe we can feel the cold. It actually seems to me that my skinny friends are more comfortable when it is chilly than I am.

I did not take offense. I just wanted to point out that our body uses the same nerves to feel temperature as it does to feel pain. When my husband was in an accident and became a quadriplegic this point was made by one of his doctors. I thought that it was interesting and just wanted to share.

Fat people have more amount of fat. That is for sure. But they donot have more amount of brown fat. Brown fat is the most important fat that conserves even produces more heat during need. So theoretically there is no reason to think that fat people FEEL less cold. But yes more fat padding do help in conserving some heat, thereby it helps in making the person a little more warm. So in short the answer is somewhat yes. But in detail the answer may be VARIABLE.

supposedly, fat people must feel warmer than thin people because they have lotsa adipose tissues or fats (which insulates heat coming out from the body and lessens cool air which enters our body) in their body. however, there is a condition called hypothyroidism which unknowingly causes a person to gain weight but very sensitive to cold. other symptom of this condition are: weakness, fatigue, forgetfulness, constipation, etc. hope this helped.
