I am done with my Christmas shopping. I buy all year long becuase it is easier for me to spend 5 or 10 bucks here and there verses 500 or 600 all at once. I have a lot to buy for. My suggestion to you is go to a dollar store and find one or 2 items for each kid. If you have 10 neices and nephews you can get out with only spending $30 for every thing! Even Target has a 'dollar spot' you can go there too. or You could get small gift bags and fill each with candy and other things. Like a "grab bag". You could buy one bag of candy and split it up. Then go in the party favor isle and get a thing of sunglasses, braclets, and what not. Split all that up too and put in each bag.

Hope you'll cheer up soon .. times may be hard but we can be creative in making sure the Holidays will still be fun, meaningful and memorable. My Christmas list is just the basic ones and I'll be working on a budget .. I'm sure everyone would understand

Hi becnh83, You shouldn't worry about buying your neices and nephews, you can't afford it this year and they should understand that times are hard, Christmas should be a happy time not worrying about buying presents for everybody, you just have to cut down and just get something for the nearest and closet relations. No,I have not started yet. I always wait until the last minute to go shopping. My children are big kids now so I do not have to buy that much. I do a few neices and nephews, but I will probably give them some money and that will be it.

Hi there becnh83 Well I only have a few more gifts to get and then I am done! Everytime I think I have finished I suddenly realise I have forgotten someone!! Have you thought about making gifts for your many neices and nephews? Have a look in the discussions under the frugal living interest or start a discussion yourself on what you could make for them for Christmas.

I haven't started on the holiday shopping, becnh but I've been gathering some ideas as to what I will give to who. If you can't afford to buy gifts for everyone this year, then don't force it. Hopefully, people will understand and remember that Christmas is more about being with loved ones and celebrating the goodness of life and human kindness instead of what gifts one will be getting this year. Enjoy the holidays!
