Would you believe? The company where i'm working right now is giving out MASS MEMO! Over what? Accessing internet site that are nonmork related. Huh. Amazing. Now we dont have any "educational" diversion from work. Personally, i think it sucks. I only access sites that arent stupid. I usually access mylot, trivia and quiz sites, amd search about ineteresting facts on wikipedia. And now, we're not even allowed to search things on wiki unless it has anything to do with our files. Geez! This makes work a lot more boring than it already is. Makes me glad i'm resigning in a month. Is the company where you work "anti-fun" too?

Work = boring...work has never been fun unless you really love your work. Well you cant blame them I also dont like restrictions like that but there are people who will abuse their internet connection. If you own the business you will do you think that it's good if most of your workers are playing online instead of working? You pay them to work and not have fun... I am not saying you abuse your internet but someone needs to run a business... Lucky for me we can access internet freely... ^_^

Sometimes employers can be like that. I understand were they are coming from though. They are paying you to work not play around on the internet. I think that during lunch or your breaks you should be allowed to do what you want on the internet as long as you are not putting your company in jepordy. Bur your resinging so i guess it really doesn't matter.

maybe the company is going through some financial crunch ,that forced them to put these restrictions.i am my own boss,so i dont have to worry about such restrictions.but the company my husband works has such restrictions.even he finds it too tiring and sometimes does think of giving up.

I doubt if they could even trace the site you visit. I think if they dont want you to access other sites they could just easily block all those sites to prevent you from accessing them and in that way they wont need to send out memos to their employees. I think there are some companies that allow thier emplyees to do what they like with the net while working, as i know most of those companies are call centers. There are actually lots of those in our place and i think its their way of attracting people to work for them that is why they are making work more enjoyable.

Some companies are anti-social.. ;p i mean, they block sites that can't be used at work.. hubby's company blocked websites like youtube, yahoo messenger and other social networking sites.. i guess, we can't blame them for doing that as some employees are doing unnecessary things online while working..

I think a a lot of companies are do this these days and it was probably brought on by just a few people who have abused the system and then they spoil it for everyone, I think also these people who have nothing better to do that record statistics and then make it public of their findings, maybe they set some huge anount of man hours that employees are wasting on work time..its sad i know...

LMAO My employees are never going to have access to the internet. I'm not paying them to play games and goof off on mylot. However to those of you that do have the opportunity to go online... stick it to the man. LOL More than likely it is a company that could pay you more but chooses to keep it for non working board members.

How could your company be that stingy? My goodness, what is wrong with giving your employees the chance to improve their knowledge and skills by going to educational and helpful sites! I'm glad my company has been very, very generous when it comes to internet access. We are even encouraged to go and surf when there no much work in the office but make sure the sites are worth being visited.

No, our office's atmosphere is so homey. Our boss is a very kind boss her policy is do whatever you want long as your do your work diligently and in time. Our work is occasional, i mean when there is work, then there is a lot of it. But there are also times that we don't have anything to do so we can relax then, as long as you stay in the office. She is a very considerate boss but we make sure that we don't go over the line. So, we are one big happy family at the office, some say that it's almost as if we are just at home, which i think is true. But we love our work, and our boss that we make sure that we do what is required of us.
