Anyone reading the Twilight books?

I've just been wondering if anyone has read this series and what you thought about it. My friend has been nagging me to read it but I'm still considering it. Is it really that great? I've heard a bunch of people raving about it. So, any kind of opinion would help.

My sister recommended it to me and I wanted to read it but after seeing the movie I change my mind. It was worse than you can imagine.
