Do you believe in the famous saying: Don't judge a book by it's cover?

In choosing a book to be read, do you consider it's cover before you decide to buy and read that book?

I do not judge the book by its cover. Usually I based it on the summary. There are a lot of books that is very simple on the cover yet the contents carries a big impact. There are also those that seem to be very attractive by the cover alone yet nothing much to show on the inside. So what I usually take into consideration is the summary.

Do you mean do I choose it because of the picture on the cover or do I choose it because I read the back of the cover and I like what it says the book is about? I would never choose a book just based on a picture. But if I read the back and it sounds like something I would enjoy then I might pick that book to read. Most books I read though are books that I have heard about one way or another. Or books in series that I have already read other books in.

Yes, sometimes covers of a book or outlook of a person could be deceptive. We must read some contents of the book from different pages, before deciding to buy a book. Some of the covers or cover photographs may be quite attractive in appearance, however, the contents of the book(s) or the story may not be so interesting and its vice versa is also true, therefore, we must buy a book with all precautions. Also, we should not judge a person, through his/her outwardly appearance only, it is said that appearance could be deceptive. A man with a smiling face, may not be as good as he looks or a man with a scar an spots on his face may be quite caring and good inwardly.

Dear friend, I hardly buy books and in case if I buy cover importance is limited and I mostly want to know the content in a brief or any other matter I am interested in. If so I may buy it.

Well yes. But I am more interested in the book's summary. This has many great details that tells what is going to happen in the story/plot. This is what draws me to picking up the book and buying it.

The cover usually attracts me to check a book and the cover tells what inside the book so yes, in reading a book, I always consider the cover. But as for the merit of the book, I do agree that a book should not be judged by its cover. I've read lots of books that don't have good cover illustrations and synopsis but they are really well-written and interesting ones.
