I'm from Jamaica so I don't have Thanksgiving and my favourite holiday is Christmas. So this is to all you guys who actually have both; which do you prefer and why? For me Christmas was always the time that my family came together and laughed and talked and stuff and its always great...what do these holidays mean for you?

I have to say for me i like christmass for so many reasons.I do believe in god so that is important to me.The other is that when you have your family together and get to spend the extra time with them it means so much in this busy world we live in . It is nice when you have the money to spend to get the gifts for all the ones who mean so much. But that is just a small part .We learn that the time we put in and help each other is so important when things are not going well. So for this time of year i will be looking forward to christmass ...Thank God

I prefer Christmas out of the two of them. It seems as if you get to see a lot of your family for both, but Christmas is a time of giving. Christmas means showing your love for people by giving gifts. It doesn't matter what these gifts are, it is the thought that counts. I like the homemade ones a lot. It is really fun to see all of the ornaments that my sister and her kids have made for me through the years when I am decorating my Christmas tree. Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks. It is great to sit back and think about all of the things that we are thankful for. And sometimes to even write it down on paper or put it in a journal. This gives us more appreciation, and a chance in the future to look back and see our feelings. Thank you for starting this discussion, and have a great day!

Thanks so much for your comments:) I think if I had both in Jamaica I would still end up preferring Christmas. It just means so much to me; the family togetherness and unity. I hope you have a good thanksgiving yourself though:)
