participate in giving tothe food banks? Any donation, no matter how small will be important to someone in need. My dad fills a huge box and delivers it every year. How do you feel about donating to food banks? Or do you prefer toys for tots and other ways of giving?

I think Food Banks are a great idea, especially in these hard times. If I have extra I give it to a neighbor who is having some problems. It is never very much as I really only buy what I need and can use each week.

Thats really good to help a neighbor. I hope that food banks will get many donations because there are more people who will need it.

Through the year the scouts come around and drop off a bag and they come back the next Saturday. Also the postal service do it one day a year. At our HEB grocery store you can also get a little tag to add to your grocery bill and the money goes to the food bank. They also have big bins set up to drop off can goods and one of the TV stations each year has an all day drop off at all HEB's and the TV station for food and or cash. It will be done on Dec. 5th this year. They always do really well with helping out. I do donate when I can to the food bank.

I give to a different charity every year. I can hardly afford to do that, especially this year as I am not making enough to cover all my expenses. So, I will be using saved money to give this year. I am still working, though less hours, but there are people out there who are not working and have no savings at all, or they lost a lot of money in their retirement fund. It's the least I can do. If I don't give cash, I will give food.

I totaly agree with you. There are people who just do not have food. I dont care how much or how little I may have, I will donate sonmething. It may be more sometimes then others. You hate to picture people without food.

We always give canned goods through my kids AWANA at church. We also have given a toy for several years to a child from our Angel Tree at church too. These are for children whose parents are incarcerated. We did that for several years until our church no longer participates. Last year we gave a shoe box full of gifts to Christmas Child. This year we are going to either "adopt" an elderly person from a tree at my daughter's orthodontist or we are going to give a gift to gospel for Asia. They let us choose what the money is used for such as chickens for a poor family or school books for children.
