Insomnia is a sleeping disorder which is caused by bad practices. People are used to watch TV late night shows. They avoid eating, that is required for the body to function. People are also used to smoke and drink coffee before sleep these are some of the bad practices. People should eat between 6 - 7pm nothing to drink after 8pm eat small quantity carb's, protein, and warm cup of milk if people are used to eat fruits then they should eat a banana. No coffee, smoking, or any caffeine before sleep. Sleeping aids helps to sleep but it will not give a sound sleep, not even wine. Try it out this really works. I hope you guys agree with me.

I must disagree with you. It can be caused by bad practices but it can also be caused by a number of illnesses. I have 3 different sleeping disorders that are all caused by my illness Chronic fatigue syndrome. I have sleep maintenance insomnia which means that I cannot stay asleep. I wake every 1 to 4 hours. This is often just enough to roll over and go back to sleep but it still prevents proper rest. The longer the block I get the better I can cope with the next day. On days when I wake every hour I am exhausted all day long. The second disorder is that I regularly sleep over 10 hours and have trouble waking up the next morning. I forget what that one is called but it makes it very hard to get up in the morning as I have trouble waking up enough to stay up. I also sometimes have insomnia when I cannot get to sleep no matter how tired I am. Not sure why I get this one but it does not happen every night and I do not watch late night tv shows, do not avoid eating, do not smoke and hardly every drink coffee just before sleep. As I said it does not happen very often but some nights I have to take a herbal pill to get to sleep. I just wanted to point out that there are other causes than the ones you mentioned.

Do you work night shifts if so you should plan your sleep every day. Normal person should have 7-8 hrs of sleep everyday. Please do not take herbal pill to sleep. Drink a cup of hot milk. This will work.

No I do not work as I am ill. That is the point I was making. My sleep disorders are symptoms of an illness not caused by anything I do or eat or drink.

Oh that's pretty interesting information. I tend to have a protein shake sometime after dinner. I might also have a snack with it as well. It doesn't tend to affect my sleep unless i have it after 9.
