How do you burn a movie to disc?

Hi All I have a couple of films which have been downloaded off the internet - leagally, before you start in at me! According to the site that I downloaded them from, you are able to burn them to CD and should be able to play them on your DVD machine. Well, they work when I play them on my computer, and I have managed to burn one of them to DVD, but it only plays on my computer - without sound! On the DVD/TV, it comes up with a message that says 'No Disc'. I'm confused!!! Also, I have a Wii game which has also been downloaded off the internet - again, legally!, and again, you are supposed to be able to burn it onto DVD and then play it on your Wii machine - I can't burn it onto disc. My question is this, can anybody help me by steering me in the right direction so that I can burn these films and games to DVD please! Do I need a special program to do this? Do I need special disc's perhaps? Is there an autorun file (or something like that) that I need to add to the DVD when I burn it? I an using Vista on the machine that I would like to use to burn the DVD's, but do also have a machine which is not Vista. I look forward to hearing your advice and tips. Please note - the files which I am talking about were downloaded legally and paid for so please don't lecture me on the issue of piracy. Thank you

Heya, File Types play a major role here. The movie that you have, must be *.avi file which DVD/TV player cannot play. The file type that DVD players support is MPG.. There are many converters available that you can download off the internet. CODEC is the term that plays a major role here.. And regarding Wii, I'm not sure, coz I dont have a Wii with me.. :( Cheers :)

well to burn a disc u need a software called nero burn.. if u burn the disc in data format(which usually takes less space) it might not get played in some dvd or cd players. instead try burning it as a dvd video format or cd video format for videos. this format ll be supported by all players. for games u can burn them in data disc format.

You would need to get a DVD Burner. You cant burn DVD's with out one. A CD Burner will not work for DVD's either you wont be able to watch them on a dvd player and they will only work with your computer.
