Are You Forgetful?

As we grow older we tend to forget a lot of things. From the simpler to the more complex one. I find this sad because you can actually feel the depreciation in your state of awareness. For instance, some people forget their keys, passwords, a stuff that they need to bring, names, etc. Whatever it is, do you feel that you're beginning to become forgetful? How do we stop this in a gradual way? If not, how do we slow it down?

As we grow older and older, our physical and mental capacity starts declining gradually. All our sense organs start losing their respective capacity of perception. For example, as we grow old, our sights become weaker and hazy. But the rate of physical and mental deterioration varies from person to person . It takes longer time for some people to lose their memory capacity, while others lose relatively faster. It is a irreversible process that goes along with aging. Thanks.

Sometimes I wonder if it is just because I have so much information running through my brain throughout the day. But you sure are right, I forget more than most people know, especially here recently. My mom or a friend will say that I said something, or don't you remember talking about that, and I have no clue about the whole conversation. I guess it just depends on who I am talking to and how interesting the conversation is at the time. Plus, whatever else I am doing. I still remember a lot of happenings from my childhood and teenage years, and I am happy for that. I hope I never go sinile. Thanks for starting this discussion, and have a great day!

Yes I do find it odd because I recall a lot of things during my childhood days. I can still smell the fresh air when I was still young. Growing old really sucks. Why can't we just stay young forever. hehehe. Thanks for sharing. Have a good one.

What did you say??? Only joking. I don't think I am getting forgetful as I get older but if you asked my husband he would tell you a very different story!!

Ever since I was a kid, I've been forgetful, so I guess the whole "you get more forgetful as you get older" thing doesn't apply to me. I usually forget small things like keys, my cell phone, my homework, etc. However, I usually write myself a note the night before saying, "Don't forget cell phone" or something like that so I don't forget.

Yeah you're absoultely right about that. I tend to forget things easily now when I reached my thirties. Your suggestion of having checklists or organizers is simply brilliant. Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I'll start it next year. 2009.

i'm not too old to experience forgetfulness but after i was injected with general anesthesia for my operation i notice that i become more forgetful. sometimes i will go to the kitchen and go back to where i started because i forgot already what i'm supposed to do in the kitchen, this is worst than before that i can only forget the terms use for a certain thing but now i feel like i'm lost in my own home. i don't know, if this is a side effect of the general anesthesia.
