I myself play the clarinet of 7 years. Keyboard/organ a bit but not two rhythms at once just chords, and guitar I'm trying to get better at for like the past two years. I'm okay i think at guitar but not very good. Clarinet of course is my fav to play though =] I would love to learn how to play piano and the harp, but they seem a bit complicated to learn on a novice level. What instruments can you play or would you like to learn?

Hi! I play some guitar, and I had a teeny bit of formal training with the piano when I was a kid. I've been out of practice with both for a long time now, though I suppose it's like riding a bicycle - the hang of it comes back with more practice. I'd like to get back and improve on playing the piano. I love harp music too, but I don't know where I can learn it, I don't even know where I can get me the instrument. Sounds to me like you're one to be able to learn piano and harp well enough - go for it!

Thanks! I wouldn't really know where to get a harp either, but ever since seeing Harpo Marx play, my bf and I were more intrigued by the instrument. I think you're right about it being like riding a bike. i was out of practice with guitar for quite sometime, but eventually i'm getting the hang of it again. I think you should get back on piano! Hopefully if i get into my music major well i'll have to have a second instrument to play and it would be piano =] i suggest googling or a yahoo search on videos of harpo marx and/or chico marx. There playing is awesome! They are part of the Marx Brothers, black and white movies from all the way back to the 30's =]

Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, the Marx Brothers. Okay, I'll look them up, thanks so much! That's something new to me. I have a cd collection of a Japanese harp player who settled here in the Philippines - he made a name here then, and that's how I know how truly heavenly harp music is. Best of luck in your endeavors!

I play keyboards, having been into them since very young:I learnt classical and then gravitated as most people to rock and jazz. Now although I dont play as much as I used to, I still have the chops to play, although most times I guess it sounds like very bad stuff.Still, once you learn the basics, everything else follows.Playing woodwind instruments is a tough gig, like clarinets and trumpets etc much tougher than keyboards, I think.Butif you have learnt the basics on the clarinet, then you can learn the keyboards quickly. Now with cheap keyboards you dont have to invest in an acoustic piano, although the feel of learning on one is unbeatable. The tough part is learning to coordinate your left and right hands, and for that, you have to practise, at least an hour a day.Learning the scales is a good start, and then going on to simple tunes.Good luck

thanks much =] I really admire those who have the patience to learn any instrument, no matter how "easy" it may seem. It's funny you say woodwinds seem more difficult because i think keyboards are more difficult lol. I admire that you know different types of music on keyboard. I have not learnt how to coordinate my right and left hand in such a way that allows me to play two different rhythms at once, but hopefully i will learn to in school if i get into my major. thanks for the response =]

It's true! Practice is key, I just mainly use guitar tabs, and unfortunately cannot read music for guitar. But, i love to look up tabs. Or just playing and listening to a song to try and follow along with the melody or lead guitar. I just love to play! I hope your practicing pays off! =]

No not at all, yes everyone has their own hobbies of course. And it is difficult learning an instrument. But i think the one that is best to learn first is keyboard or piano. Once you start on that it's easier to learn the concept of other instruments.

I know how to play bass and guitar pretty well. I'm not bad at writing lyrics and I kind of try to play drums and sing.

I've been playing violin for 10 years now. in the last year i picked up guitar. i also play some piano and i played a bass drum for a little while with the school drumline. of all the instruments out there though i would love to learn to play a saxaphone. i love the way it sounds an di love the way it looks. as far as learning piano, learnin chords isn't really hard. the hardest part for me is learning to read a bass clef when i was only taught to read treble. it's complicated but it's still fun.
