Can you forgive your lover if he/ she betrayed u with any kind of betraying??

If u are in love with some body could u forgive him/ she if he betrayed u?? I mean can u discuss him or she for the reasons of his/she shame doing???I think i will listen to him carefully then most probably i will forgive him but am not sure of this, HOPE it will not happen never:)
