How do you deal with a difficult boss?

Lately my boss have been nasty to everyone. She backbites just about everybody and her mouth is constantly spewing venom. In the past, I use to adore her because she's considerate. Or so I thought. I didn't know that she was already planning to fire me because I refused to buy her groceries and bring her laundry to the laundry shop. But unfortunate for her that she can't find anything wrong with what I'm doing so she can't fire me that easily. And now she's getting worst. Right now she has no friends in the workplace but that isn't really comforting because she still has power over us. If you were me, what would you do?

Its just so sad because I love my job. I have extra time to be a working bum so to speak :) But yes, I'm currently job hunting. I can't stand all the negative energy she emits.

That's exsactly how I felt. But with me having a mortgage to pay, I didn't think I had a choice. Had I known that this was going to happen, I would have tried looking a little harder.

I was in your situation. I worked for a company for almost 8 years. I got great annual reviews. I always gave my all and everybody appreciated it and they told me. After 6 years this new manager came in and because I made 3 mistakes right away, she decided she didn't like me and was constantly writing me up. Then I went through a 7 month period where I made 2 mistakes. It looked like the worst was over. Then, one day, without warning, she brought me in the office, there was someone in human resources there and I was fired. Today, I am still without a job. Start looking. Start looking now. They say the best time to look for a job is when you already have one. I think there's one way that make it more difficult when you have a job is you can't go out on interviews. The first thing you want to do is update your resume. That was one mistake I made. Start looking online, in classifieds, talk to people. If you have any time off coming, take it. Another thing to remember: Your employment there is probably at will which means they can terminate your employment for no reason. So don't worry about giving any kind of notice if you get offered employment. In today's economy, those days are gone.
