i am just wondering who of you here have ever impose on a friend, family, love ones that gift that you want that person to give you for christmas. my friends and i has this habit where we would ask and voice out what we like. LOL. we don't feel offended by it because we are like that with each other since we became friends. but of course i don't do that to everyone only to those dear friends of mine. LOL. how about you? have you ask for something as a gift?

Yes, we do that among our family members. We have our own Kris Kringle so each and every one gets to tell what they like for Christmas by writing it on a piece of paper where every one can read it, to give idea to the one who is going to give the gift and vice versa. We have been doing these for years now and it is more fun because you are very sure you will get what you like.

Well, as a little kid, with my parents, I would always do that with my parents, because you know "grown-ups", they never know what the coolest toys are these days. Plus, it was really easy to know what I wanted because I either wanted something baby doll related or puppy related. Preferably a puppy, of course, but I didn't get him until I was ten! Nowadays, I don't really know what I want, except a specific CD from my favorite artist. I just ask for money from my parents, but with my friends, we don't do that. In fact, we get the most random things for each other, but we know each other well enough to know if it's good.

My husband and I do this. We usually don't do this with the rest of the family because they all give gift cards. We have our daughter to buy Christmas presents and birthday presents as her birthday is 2 days after Christmas. So, my husband and I always mention one gift that we really really want. We try to get it, but you know how it is, sometimes that doesn't happen.

Oh!! I can't remember I did.. It might be I did that to a very close friend, It is not actually imposing or forcing somebody to give. it is just like wishing... that the thing I like would be given to me as a gift, and I want that person to hear it. hahahaha... at least he/she would know I like it.

When wewere very small, our uncle asked us what shall we have as a present. I remember imposing our wish of Christmas Cake on him. My uncle did complee our wish though and made our party just perfect.

My parents would ask me what I want for Christmas, I'd usually be shy but if I go shopping with them and see something I like, they'd ask if I'd like them to buy it for me as a gift and sometimes I'd give in. Same goes for my husband .... haha .. It's nice to be able to know that a person likes what you're giving her or him but it's even nicer if you can do it without being obvious. Also, now that budget is getting thin, might as well be practical and spend on something a person really likes

I can say that I am guilty of doing this. I actually did not really want to impose or anything, I just wanted the people close to me to know that the gifts they will give me will really be useful. If I am not close to someone, I have no right to impose. But when it comes to my boyfriend, he always ask me what I liked to have. He has not given me anything that he did not ask from me first before buying. My siblings do the same with me because they know how particular I am when it comes to stuff such as clothes and the color choices. If I am asked, I will tell them what I want but if not asked but still given a gift, I will truly appreciate everything no matter what it is.

thanks for the post friend. don't feel bad you just want to appreciate their gift better. as long as we don't impose to those people that we are not that close at all but for family and close friends they will surely understand.

I wouldn't feel bad at all. Sometimes people have no clue what to get each other, and its not a bad thing. My husband's family quit asking and just started getting gift cards. I don't like gift cards unless they are for a specific place. But just a general gift card to Walmart, no. I would rather recieve the Christmas sweater that someone thought was cute, that I would probably not wear until the next year. But at least they put more thought into the gift. I would rather someone ask me what I would like, instead of getting a gift card. I think that's putting more thought into the gift also.

Hi. Before I used to think that that is a crazy thing to do. Because recieving a fift is something that should be a surprise. But one time, I recieved a gift which I don't want to recieve. So since that time, I decided to impose what gift I would want to recieved. Anyway I prefer also to ask my friends and love ones of what gift they want to recieve. So that they will not experience what I had experienced before.

that's true. it feels good that the gift that you give are appreciated by those who received it so i prefer to ask too... thanks for the post and happy mylotting!!!

we do exchanged gifts during Christmas. what i do i let everybody know what i want to receive on Christmas in a jokingly manner to give then sort of a hint that those things are the things i really want to receive on christmas.

I do tell people what to get me for New Years' only if they ask me. =P I think that this means that they have genuinely no idea and that help from me would be appreciated. I have no objection to make when this happens between friends, but when people that barely know me try to hint what they want. xD This is when it starts getting rude. I don't tell people what to get me unless they ask. =P They might already have a good idea or might have already bought me something, and this would seem like putting their gift down if it wasn't the same. If I was going to tell them something, I would tell them beforehand when they would have no idea what to get me. =P
