Does anyone tag their replies to their messages on myLot?

I'm just curious about this feature. Why would they have a tag feature for private messages if the only person who could see the reply was the recipient? Why do you think that is. The only things I've tagged on mylots were discussions and replies to things I got on the public discussions I've started or responded to.

I think the receiver might be able to use it to search for the post if needed.

You have a relevant point to make and I endorse your view that for Private Messages, requirement of tags could be done away with. Perhaphs,it does not serve any useful purpose. However, I think that right from the beginning they would have designed the message in such a way that one is required to put tags, like one does in a discussion and they have not changed it afterwards. You may send your valuable suggestion to Mylot authorities directly and this will benefit others.

well i have thought of this too...if messages are private then why do they need to be tagged? i never tag my messages and that the only thing that i dont tag in mylot... but i really wonder why there is a tag option for private messages?

If i notice that a person who posts the discussion hasn't tagged it or tagged it completly, then I will tag it as well. It counts when it comes to myLot...somewhere. I'm not sure why others do it, but that is my reasoning behind tagging my responses.

Hi YamiKiba. If you send more than a few PM's you'll be surprised to see how hard it is to find that PM again if you need to resend the information. Tags, whether they are used in the discussions or in private messages make it easier to find if you need to access it again. I really like tags because they can really be a time saving tool. Several months ago I had posted a reply to a discussion asking how to get referrals for a certain site. A few weeks ago, someone else replied to that discussion and asked me to send them a PM with the details too. Since I remembered that I had sent several PMs with this information, I did a search for the tag (keyword) I had used and found it easily among the hundreds of PMs that have been sent since then. Instead of gathering the information all over again, I just accessed the old PM with the relevant tag, copy the information and paste it into a new PM. In this example I have saved time not only finding the information I was looking for, but I also saved myself alot of time in sending the reply to the newest requestor since copying the information is faster than retyping it.
