Star Choice is rediculous

Well at least their employees are... We had Star Choice Satalite for over a year now and things were pretty good and they were quite reasonable with customer service. Now I'm not sure what really happened with that company but it seems that everything with that customer service department has gone down the tubes. When we moved into our new house to a different community, we understood that we're permitted one move for free a year. What that means is they will come and install a new satalite dish on the outside and make sure it's all connected correctly on the inside. We had an appointment with Star Choice in the beginning of November to come and do this for us free of charge. We only have been in this new house since November 1st. So the man that was suppose to come and do this work told me over the phone that there was a millage charge of $45.00. At the time I didn't have $45.00 lol. So I told him that I wasn't going to put that amount in his gas tank so he told me that he had to phone his supervisor and find out what he should do. I thought about it and figured that this wasn't worth the problem so when he called me back I told him to forget it that I just wanted to cancel this whole thing before he came here for nothing. He sounded disappointed and asked me if I could write him a check instead of paying cash ( I guess to give me another option of paying him). I insisted on telling him that I no longer wanted their service. About three weeks later I got a phone call from Star Choice stating that if I discontinue services with them.. I will get charged another months fee. I told him that was rediculous and it wasn't agreed when we first went with their services. He told me that it was on the back of the contract I signed. (I just didn't dig it up and check that yet) so I took his word for it. I explained to him also about the man coming here wanting me to pay a millage charge and that from what I understood the whole job was free of charge. I thought to myself, should I pay the last month's extra charge? Or should I just get a cheaper package? I went with the cheaper package and we didn't get all of the channels that we did before but still got to choose three of the favorite bundles, so that wasn't too bad. When I heard from the man that had to come out here today on the phone this morning he told me that he was suppose to come here and do the installation but wouldn't be here till late afternoon because he had to go the doctor, I told him fine. He called us back and my hubby answered it this time because I told my hubby last night to talk to him on the phone as I was tired of dealing with him. He told my hubby that there was a millage charge and said it would $50.00. So my hubby lied to him and asked him what it was based on and told the man that he was a truck driver. The man told him it was 40 cents a kilometre. My hubby told him that he only made .35 cents a km. They put a kyboch on that right away and the man did some refiguring for our total to be less than half that price. So basically he was trying to pocket money from Star Choice. I'm not even sure if they know about it. He was also suppose to leave us a receipt for it but just wrote it on the contract. He also left me on the phone with Star Choice customer service. She told me in order for me to get a refund or credit for our bill we had to fax the receipt to them. I ended up getting angry and telling her that I didn't have a fax machine and that was going to cost me more gas and money to find one to use! She was going on about how someone had made some notes in my file and then I asked her to put me through to him because I was originally was suppose to call him and let him know how much to credit me for paying this man cash for milliage. I got no where with that and then tried calling them back again and was put on hold for longer than their answering service recording told me I would be so I just hung up. Have you had similar problems with your bill providers? Cellphones, satalite.. etc?

on the ground!? ok,now that's a first.what was that guy thinking. a friend of mine had to have trees lopped to get a signal.. then they had to mount it on top on one of the lopped trees. she told me she was going to make a clothesline of the cable from dish to house (kidding,of course)

It's funny how these companies are allowed to leave us customers clueless by not telling us this information or typing that part of the contract in a darker more noticable font so we fully understand this. Another thing that the man did was put the satalite outside on ground level where you can reach it so someone can come and steal it or damage it. He told us the reason behind that was because there were trees in the way. I looked and didn't see any trees where he put it so when I call them back I'm going to raise hell and explain that if anything happens whether it's in their contract or not if they cover it.. I'm going to want a new dish for that matter. Thanks for your comment

Of course he was tring to make more money no telling what the company pays him an hour for his work. But not very professional at all writeing it on your contract. Think I would keep calling till I got hold of the man that you need to talk to . I have found that they dont put anything you tell them in the notes specially if you dont hear them typing! I get it all the time with companys they have so many people that ya talk to and one dont know what the other has said and done. Sounds like this company dont have a hand book for the customer service to go by and they are winging it.

Good morning Lakota I think today I'm going to try to call them back and talk to that guy I spoke to a couple weeks ago from Star Choice. The lady did see what he entered in the computer but wouldn't patch me through to him. She was quite ignorant after I told her that him and I talked already and he agreed that he was going to adjust my account.. it was like talking to a wall with her. All she did was put me on hold telling me that she wanted to discuss this with her manager. The guy that I originally spoke to told me that he was taking money out of his own pocket to do this. (Whether or not he was speaking the truth I'm not sure) Thanks for your comment
