Barber and Robotics

The science of robotics is slowly but surely advancing. I once read in a science fiction book that, ultimately, all professions, except that of a barber, will be taken over by robots: medicine, construction, metalworks, teaching, etc. Is this good or bad?

It is good, but at the same time bad. Robotic technology teaches the people to be lazy, to be dependent on mechanical advances will make us more vulnerable to sickness. Take for example the farmers. Farmers from the old days are healthy, masculine, strong and energetic. But once they become reliant on the advanced technology of farming, their bodies will become weak, obese, and worse, become prone to illness. Heat generated from these mechanical machines add to the global warming. Unemployment will soar to unimaginable heights because companies will not employ people who always complains, unlike robots who only does assigned work without complaining. On the other hand, it can serve good to people in times of crisis, like rescuing trapped people on disaster-hit places, like the earthquake that hit japan, hurricane Katrina that devastated part of America or landslide areas in the Philippines.
