Advise to your younger self

If you could go back and meet your younger self, what advice would you give? I would certainly say to pay attention to my friends words because they are right and only want to protect me. Also listen to your instinct and not your emotions because the emotions will get you in trouble.

I think I'd tell her to pursue her interests and to stop listening to gossip because that's a waste of time... especially since she didn't even use any of that information in any interesting way. Oh and I'd tell her to grow her hair and to not be too lazy with it (I had short hair my whole grade school life and the boys started coming when I let it grew...sheesh, that's all you guys were waiting for??) Thanks for the comment on my discussion!

I used to date a really long haired guy. When he hugged me, people walking up behind him thought he was female. People would be like "OMG. You two are lesbians.!?" Sometimes I was in a devilish mood and said "Yes". Those guys probably didn't want people thinking they are hugging a guy because of the short hair.

I would say: 1) Spend half and save half of your money 2) Enjoy today like it will be your last because one day it will be 3) Don't judge a woman by her looks, but by her personality. 4) The excesses of youth are a down payment on old age 5) Do unto others as you would like them to do to you 6) You can achieve (almost) anything if you really want to 7) Success comes from who yo know more than what you know, so cultivate your friends 8) Friendship can be for life, girlfriends rarely are - don't confuse the two! 9) Life is unfair, don't make it worse for others - be nice to others. 10) If you cannot say something nice, don't say anything at all Long life and happiness (as Spock says!)

These are all good rules to go by. A few of them my old self would have also done well to understand.

good discussion question! i would definitely say to myself "be true to who you are" also don't be afraid to be who you are. listen to your inner voice and don't wait until it has to shout to get your attention.
