Were You Afraid of Mascots When You Were a Child?

This topic crossed my mind after witnessing a very traumatic experience of a 4-year old girl last night when we dine out at a local Jollibee outlet. The cild was so excited and happy when I saw her with her dad seated just next to our table. But when the Jollibee mascot appeared and when almost everyone in the store got excited about his presence, this little girl at our back suddenly wailed that all thought she was hurt so badly to cause such a sharp cry. The child was soooo terrified by the sight of the mascot that that manager of the store was forced send Jollibee back upstairs to the dressing room. It was a very ridiculously funny instance where something or someone who is supposed to give joy to people and kids was really made an outcast! Have you ever experienced something like this? When you were a child, were you ever afraid of mascots? Thanks for sharing!

I wasn't afraid of the people dressed up in mascot costumes when I was a child. They never bothered me. They seemed really friendly to me. Now, the things that I was more afraid of when I was a kid were clowns. I hated clowns, in fact I still do hate them. Most children are afraid of people in make up and what not and that's why it's recommended that children aren't taken around people that have many things on their faces. It really bothers kids.

Yeah, and I believe it's because of their "happy" paints on the face which some other kids find them horrible to look at. Thank you for the response.

Yes very much! I remember my mom brought me into a party, and there's this huge violet mascot! (i forgot the name of the stuff) All I did then was to cry out loud and begged my mom for us to go home!
