Does anyone ever tune you out when you talk? What do you do?

This is a typical scenario in the classroom. When the students get bored, they tune out their teacher and do something else. This is just an example. But do you have a friend or relative or a special friend who tunes you out when you talk to him/her? How do you react? Once I was talking to my mom then she got distracted by her cellphone so I got tuned out.. I said "nevermind" then left her. Then she asked me to explain everything again. Ugh.

hi phyrethyme !!!! well yeah i have experienced that many times. people would ask me how i was etc and when i tell them, they seem uninterested and when i finish talking (sometimes without letting me finish) they change the subject. i really wonder about that. even our pastor said that when we ask somebody "how are you?" we should expect that the other person will relate to you the condition or his or her life. so we should find time to listen. not to ask and then take the person's story for granted because we were not really interested in the first place. anyway, i am not very much a talker, so i am surprised if people would get bored with me. i am usually straight to the point. okay, that is it for now. take care and God bless you!

Very true. Thanks for your time! I swear I read everything you said. :) I can relate. I have to say I'm quite guilty of being indifferent towards some people I talk to when I get bored. I try to be polite.
