Until the age of 27, I could eat what I wanted, when I wanted without any worry of gaining weight. At 27, that changed, I found my weight increasing and the roll just above my belt began to expand. This was easy to over come, I reduced eating sweets and it went away. Again at 34, the bulge reappeared. This time it was a little harder to get rid of. Not only did I have to adjust my eating habits, I also started running 2 miles everyother day, and again the bulge disappeared. In my early fourties, not only did the bulge reappear, but simply making minor diet changes no longer worked and my fitness level began declining. Now I had to look for real changes in my diet and workout programs. This was no easy trick, I could no longer diet for a short period of time and lose the weight. I was now faced with a more perminate Life Style Change in my diet and workouts for the long term. The first step was to learn as much as I could about food. In other words, eating good foods instead of the bad ones, but ohhhhh, I loved french fries. Then it dawned on me, I had to get rid of my bad eating habits forever, not just 8 weeks. This would involve replacing those bad choices with good choices. At first it was really hard, and of course I tried all the pills, and fat burning products on the market with little to no sucessus. Why, I continued the bad habits hoping the pills and powders would do the work. At the same time I was working out harder, not smarter. I was spending hours at the gym and working myself to death, actually over working everything. Finally, after two shoulder surgerys, and spending thousands for pills, powders and supplements, I found what worked for me. The first thing i did was read all the programs that I could find, diet, workout, fitness, body building, everything. I read books on calories, foods that burned more calories by eating them than the caloreies they produced, and the bigest thing, I learned to eat smaller portions, and increased the number of meals per day. I picked exercises and workouts that worked for me, I wrote down what i did, how much weight I used and any gains or losses, then adjusted my workouts accordingly. I learned what Life Style changes really was, making the time and commitment to reach my goals, swap my bad habits for good ones, and knowing it was forever. At the age of 57, I can out run alot of kids younger than me, I do not look like a greek god or a professional athlet. But as a parole agent I am or was able to chase down criminals, wrestle them into handcuffs without injury. The reason i said was is because I am now retired.
