What if the ice age or desertification is the way a planet stabilizes itself again? I mean we do that to our computers, things dont work properly hit the reset button and let it all start over again. I mean to say is that these events of mass extinction are a normal phase of all planets. And planets like mars, venus, pluto may have once hosted life, but are currently going through their extinction phase. I mean what if earth or other planets were host to different races before us? Like you remember war of the worlds the walkers were buried deep with in the earth for thousands of years, planning for the invasion. In a similar scenario an earlier civilization may have just abandoned their technology to escape the earth's extinction phase. What if the walkers were just abandoned technology brought back to life? Let me know what you think?

In my opinion there can never be a mass extinction. Some species are bound to survive and evolution will take place to ensure that. As for technology it'll always be rebuild and reinvented and if we ever face extinction, we'll think of survival first then technology. But this sort of thing is really beyond our scope so it's hard to even think about it. An ice age or desertification might be a way for the planet to renew itself.

The way things are going on at the present it looks like the planet is on its way to another shutdown of all forms of life.Global warming is on the increase. animal and plant species are dying out, afforestation is going on at an incredible pace, urban areas are being developed as concrete jungles, mangroves are disappearing, natural disasters are on the rise, glaciers are receding at breakneck speed...the list is endless. What will be the result? Nature will rebel and catastrophe will occur.Mankind may not disappear completely but maybe relocate underground or in outerspace .In the next fifty years in case the Moon is inhabitated by creating an artificial environment and Mars in another twenty years further then maybe Mankind may survive selectively.Once this is done then the Earth may revert back to its pre-inhabitated state and Man can then come back from outer space and start rebuilding in a much wiser way.It could be an interesting scenario.

Well, I don't know for sure. But if God loves to play games with our lives, He will push the restart button and save the world from being destructed by humans selfishness. I mean, we humans always think about the present instead of minding the future.

you never know. They say the earth's life is 5 billion years and we are here only for a few centuries.there might have been other things which are way better than humans in technology. And i also believe that ice age, desertification are the ways a planet usually stabilizes itself.too many secrets waiting to be revealed but i dont think we humans will be successful.happy posting
