Chewing gum

Now I personally hate the stuff and don't like chewing it. What I hate more if geting it stuck on my shoes when I'm out.... today when we were christmas shopping in another town they had chewing gum boards stuck on lamp posts so when you have finished chewing you can stick it on the board, and it works, there was loads of chewed up chewing gum stuck on it. Now it looked unslightly but what a very good idea to stick it there instead of on the floor where people can tread on it. Do you have something like that in your town?

I have never heard of that before, but then again I never really liked chewing gum anyhow, not even as a child.

I have also experienced that and its really very irritating to have one stuck up on your shoe. It is really hard getting it off and a lot messy. We dont actually have that kind of board in our town because it is much more preferred if people could just wrap their gum in its wrapper or any paper and throw it away in the trash bin. I think having that kind of boad would only work if you have that board in lots of places and not only one place. There are really people who are very lazy in throwing their chewing gum properly and instead they would just spit it anywhere or stick it anywhere they like. You could usually see those gums in floors, under the chair, tables and walls. People mostly dont care about others but if they would be stepping on a gum they themselves would even be complaining even if they are also the ones spitting those gums anywhere. I hope people could also be more considerate of others too and not just think of themselves.

i agree with you that chewing gum is harmful to the protecting of the environment around us.if it is thrown on the floor,it will become black and it is hard to get rid of by the cleaners.on the floor of the square you can see the thrown chewing gum here and there which makes us feel terrible.

a 'chewing-gum board' ??... sounds a bit 'yukcy' to me.. but if it really keeps the gum off the floor and onto my shoes... then, i'll accept it as a 'good' idea..

Because chewing gum is banned in our country.. lol =D ANd singapore is the 1st country to ever do that.. haha ^_^ Though i like to chew it when i was a kid, but disposing it will always be a problem.. hehe ^_^ PLus, some inconsiderate ple will be pasting those gums under seats or on lift doors, buttons etc.. IN the end, our government thinks that enough is enough and they banned chewing gums.. lol =D

Hi Anne, unfortunately, we don't have such wonderful boards in our country yet. Yeah, it's annoying to have the chewing gum everywhere after ppl chewed. As for me, I sometimes have chewing gum to fresh myself up and then I put it in a tissue and then throw it the garbage tin. Ppl who throw it on the floor in really without any sense of environment protecting and they do it deliberately. To make fun of other ppl...

I love chewing gum, they come in all sorts of delicious flavors, like tropical fruit flavor, and spearmint and grape and of course the old stand by mint, they even have gum for whitening teeth and some of the sugarless brand are accepted my the american dental association, thats kind of interesting, since I only chew sugarless bum. as for leaving gum on the pavement I never do that, I would never throw my gum on the grown I appreciate our environment very much and I think its gross and rude to through gum or any sort of trash on the ground. Oh and that chewing gum board idea is great.

That's crazy! There should be one of those everywhere. I haven't seen one around where I live, but it sounds like a good idea.

We do know never used to ,but I think ,why can't they wrap it in a tissue and throw it in the bin.The council used to spend thousands getting it off the pavement, but the chewing gum boards seem to work.

I've never seen or heard of anything like a chewing gum board, it is a good idea, I hate stepping on gum too, especially if its a hot day out, and the gum just stretches more and more as your trying to get it off your shoe, I hate that...lol. I don't think we have anything like that in my town, it would be unsightly tho.

Hi anne! You know that really sounds nasty and gross! But, it does seem like a really good idea even though I sure would hate to have to look at something like that! Of course it is a perfect way to get people to stop sticking the gum in places that it doesn't belong like under tables an on the street where others can step in it! I hate when that happens because it is so hard to get off of the bottom of a shoe! So I actually think that it really is a great idea even though it probably looks quite unsightly! And no we don't have anything like that where we live!

Sounds gross and unsanitary but I guess if it works it's a good thing. No, we don't have anything like this near where I live. I've never even heard of such a thing.

If you throw your gum down in any Town here we get a big fine if we are caught which is doing some good. Those boards you have been talking about really seem to be an excellent idea. I am glad they are working also. I hate chewing gum. I never have chewed it and I hate my children with the stuff but my husband chews packets of it everyday and has left it chewed on my bedside table. I think I might buy him a board for Christmas Anne and tell him what it is for.

Wow!! I can imagine that!! IT'S A BRILLIANT IDEA!! But sadly, no one in my place here have thought of that. And i, too, don't like chewing gums, just because of the simple reason that i find it a hassle to find a place to spit it out once i'm done. And i only spit it oout in dustbins, and not anyhow, any place, and anywhere.
