I met an accident at home today

Hello everyone at MyLot, Today I met with an accident at home. While cooking at home, the electric cooker caught fire. I was very scared. I immediately turned off the switch. It didnot burn for long after that. The kitchen was full of smoke. I opened the back door to let out the smoke. Did any of you encounter similar situations. What do you think should be done to prevent and during accidents. Share your views and experience with me.

fire extinguisher - fire extinguisher might be useful in the kitchen
Thanks for your quick thinking the accident did not have major repercussions. I always think that keeping a fire extinguisher is a good option. It can save your life and that of your family © ronaldinu 2008

Yes right. But it is a small fire. Actually it was very sudden and I was alone at home. I was very scared. I just swiched it off and ran out of the kitchen. Thank God nothing serious happened.

I had a similar situation once. It happened with a toaster. Smoke and a flame came out of the electrical socket. We ended up with a new toaster. I hope you are ok. Maybe you could look into purchasing a new cooker.

Yes we are going to buy a new cooker. I don't wish to face a similar situation again. I am ok. Thanks for asking.
